AstraZeneca’s site serves two very different audiences from one homepage — patients and the public looking for science and story, and financial analysts, journalists, and fund managers who need hard numbers fast. As an internal pitch project at VML, I led a redesign of the homepage and a dedicated Investor Relations experience built specifically around that second audience.
The concept commits to function over form: right angles, no rounded corners, no decorative flourishes — every module reads as a clean, institutional container rather than a marketing tile. Content runs in full-width functional strips, each doing a single job — share price, press releases, earnings calendar, annual reports — with generous whitespace and high-contrast type. Color is used structurally, not decoratively, and numbers are treated as the hero of the typography rather than an afterthought.
The goal: a page an analyst or fund manager can skim in thirty seconds, that still rewards a deeper read with authoritative documentation.
